April 22, 2014 Hikvision is honored to announce that its DS-2CD4024F 2MP WDR 60fps Smart Network Camera is among the first to be certified at the UL2802 image performance standard. This Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification was awarded at ISC West, held in Las Vegas from April 2 - 4, 2014.
UL originally established the first video image performance standard for the security industry in September 2013. This new standard defines a method to assess image quality through a series of performance-based tests conducted on production camera models. Cameras are rated on the following critical operational parameters: image resolution, distortion, relative illumination, dynamic range, maximum frame rate, gray level, sensitivity, bad pixel count, and veiling glare.
Hikvision's DS-2CD4024F Smart Network Camera is a part of Hikvision’s Smart technology evolution. As such, it is designed to fully meet all professional market requirements for unparalleled image quality, efficient bandwidth / storage utilization, and customer convenience. Therefore the DS-2CD4024F achieved extremely high scores during these UL tests, especially in the dynamic range, grey level, bad pixel, and relative illumination categories.
"This certification is gratifying. This new UL standard provides customers with a great tool to evaluate a camera's video image performance in a fair and professional manner, and ultimately helps our customers better differentiate security cameras in the marketplace," explained Polo Cai, Vice President at Hikvision.
"The UL 2802 program is a critical stepping stone for end users, manufacturers and integrators to objectively evaluate the performance of a camera’s image quality. The UL test methods and procedures provide a fresh technical approach to objectively evaluating camera image quality. We’ve been pleased with the response from manufacturers that have chosen to be among the first to be certified," said Lou Chavez, Security Principal Engineer at UL.
