Hikvision announces its new IP camera product series, DS-2CD3 and DS-2CD5. These great cameras have achieved the Certificate of Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (abbreviated as Common Criteria or CC) with assurance type EAL2 augmented with ALC_FLR.2 (EAL2+). This demonstrates Hikvision’s commitment to global customers on reliability and cybersecurity.

As one of the most widely recognized international standards (ISO/IEC 15408) in information technology security, the Common Criteria certification is primarily applicable to evaluating security and reliability of information technology products and solutions, and focuses on the protection of private information.

A WD1 DVR, which records at 960 x 480, is best paired with a 700 TVL camera (976 x 496 resolution).

Those higher TVL cameras may have higher resolution sensors, but it doesn't matter since the maximum that DVRs can accept is 700TVL. Even if you have higher TVL image sensor in the camera, you can't cram more than 700 TV Lines down the cable and into your DVR.

So choose your DVR and cameras wisely as not to overspend on things that you do not get.

What is Day and Night Camera?

Day and night cameras are cameras that are able to provide video surveillance even at low levels of illumination. A day and night camera displays a full colour image during the daytime but produces monochrome (Black and white) video images at times when the lighting is poor. The camera has a device that is sensitive to the surrounding light conditions and switches the camera between colour and black & white modes automatically. It is designed to increase its light sensitivity in poor lighting conditions and at the same time reduce noise level in the images. However, the day and night camera will fail if the illumination (Lux) level is too low.
